Requirements for Admission
Click here to receive a Life West admissions packet including a catalog and application form.

A completed application and application fee of $45.00, a brief essay (see back of application for details), two letters of recommendation (or only one if it is from a chiropractor), a formal admissions interview with a Life West faculty member, and official documentation of the following academic prerequisites:

  • A minimum of 90 semester credits or 135 quarter credits of transferable college coursework.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. GPA will be calculated twice; once in the standard fashion and again using only the specified prerequisite courses below. Both calculations must meet the 2.5 minimum.
  • One or more biology classes to equal a minimum of 6 semester credits (9 quarter credits). Classes must include related lecture and lab. Biology courses must be animal or human oriented (anatomy/physiology preferred).
  • 12 semester (or 18 quarter) credits of chemistry; to include a minimum of 3 credits (5 quarter) of general/inorganic chemistry and 6 credits (9 quarter) of organic and/or biochemistry. At least 6 semester hours of the chemistry courses (usually 2 classes) must include pertinent related laboratory work. Any remaining credit hours may be in any chemistry course accepted by LCCW, including chemistry for life sciences and analytical chemistry.
  • One or more physics classes to equal a minimum of 6 semester (or 9 quarter) credits. At least one term must contain pertinent related laboratory work. A biomechanics, kinesiology, statistics or exercise physiology class may be substituted for ONE term of physics.
  • A minimum of 6 semester (or 9 quarter) credits of English or communicative skills.
  • A minimum of 3 semester (or 5 quarter) credits of psychology.
  • A minimum of 15 semester (or 23 quarter) credits in the social sciences or humanities.

All prerequisite classes must be passed with a minimum of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (usually a C grade).

No more than 20 semester credits of the admission prerequisites can be the result of College Level Equivalency Program (CLEP) exams or through advanced placement. No science course credits acquired in this manner will apply toward prerequisites.
