Dr. Michael Dobbins Excellence in Nutritional Education Scholarship ($10,000)
We are please to announce a new $10,000 annual scholarship – the Dr. Michael Dobbins Excellence in Nutritional Education Scholarship. In 2009, Standard Process Inc.®, manufacturer of nutritional whole food supplements awarded Dr. Dobbins (LCCW alumnus) with the Excellence in Nutritional Education Award. To further honor Dr Dobbins, Standard Process established this scholarship to recognize those students who have chosen the path of chiropractic and wellness to help others achieve optimal health.
The Dr. Michael Dobbins Excellence in Nutritional Education Scholarship is an annual award of $10,000 for the next 10 years. Each year, new candidates will be invited to apply for this prestigious award. The Life West Scholarship committee will nominate the top five candidates to Standard Process Inc.®, for the final selection. The 2010 deadline is January 22, 2010 and the award will be presented spring 10 quarter.
Criteria: cumulative G.P.A of 2.9 or higher, must have at least three quarters remaining before graduation at time of award (sp10), provide a list of contributions to the chiropractic professions, to LCCW, and to the community, provide a letter of recommendation form a Life West professors and write a 500-700 word essay (topic on application). LCCW Commitment to Excellence Scholarship
The LCCW Commitment to Excellence Scholarships are to acknowledge and honor students at Life West who have demonstrated their commitment to excellence in life and/or in chiropractic. The scholarship award is for students who have excelled in one or more of the following areas: community service, health center accomplishments, research, academic achievements, athletics, and contributions to the chiropractic profession and/or other exceptional accomplishments.
Requirements:
Include one letter of recommendation and a 500 maximum word essay on your commitment to excellence in one or more of the areas listed above. Deadlines are the Wednesday of the fourth week of each quarter. Five scholarships of $500 will be awarded each quarter.
LCCW Life Assistance Scholarship
Awards of up to $250 are given to students who meet the criteria and have unusual or unexpected expenses or some type of emergency expense and are then selected by the ad hoc Scholarship Committee. Criteria include the following: GPA 2.0 or above, demonstrate financial need, complete application & essay along with the budget sheet. Life Assistance Award deadlines for upcoming quarters are the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
Datatel Scholarship
The Datatel Scholars Foundation Awards ($770-$2,000) - academic scholarships for under
graduate and graduate students. In addition, the Foundation offers the Angelfire Scholarship
($700-$2,000) which is available to students who are veterans of the Vietnam War, spouses
or children of Vietnam veterans, or refugees during the 1964-1975 time frame) from Vietnam,
Laos or Cambodia. Deadlines are typically in January of each year. Each college may
nominate up to two semi-finalists for the Datatel Scholars Foundation & for the
Angelfire Scholarship.
