Life West Scholarships

Life Assistance Scholarships (current students)
Awards of up to $250 are given to students who meet the criteria and have unusual or unexpected expenses or some type of emergency expense and are then selected by the Scholarship Committee. Criteria includes the following: Applicants must be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.0, must demonstrate financial need, must complete the application, including all questions and the budget sheet. Applicants must submit a typed essay and complete the statement - "I am applying for this scholarship because..."

Life Assistance Award deadlines for upcoming quarters are the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

LCCW Committment To Excellence Scholarship 

The Financial Aid Office and the Dean’s Office are excited to announce a new scholarship program for currently enrolled students. We are pleased to inform you that effective summer 07 term five scholarships of $500 will be available each quarter. The LCCW Commitment to Excellence Scholarships are to acknowl-edge and honor students at Life West who have demonstrated their commitment to excellence in life and/or in chiropractic. The scholarship award is for students who have excelled in one or more of the following areas:  community service, health center accomplishments, research, academic achievements, athletics, and contributions to the chiropractic profession and/or other exceptional accomplishments. 

 

Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office, Student Services, Business Office (roll up window) and the Dean’s Office.  It requires one letter of recommendation and a 500 maximum word essay on your commitment to excellence in one or more of the areas listed above.

Deadlines:  July 30th (Summer 08), October 22nd (Fall 08), January 28th (Winter 09) and April 22nd (Spring 09)

Awards:  5 scholarships of $500 each quarter

Special Scholarships

Datatel Scholarship

The Datatel Scholars Foundation Awards ($770-$2,000) - academic scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students. General academic awards are given in August. In addition, the Foundation offers the Angelfire Scholarship ($700-$2,000) which is available to students who are veterans of the Vietnam War, spouses or children of Vietnam veterans, or refugees (during the 1964-1975 time frame) from Vietnam, Laos or Cambodia. This year they are offering a new award - Returning Student Scholarship ($1,000). Students who are returning to school after a five-year absence and meets the eligibility requirements may apply. Deadlines vary yearly.

Each college may nominate up to two semi-finalists for the Datatel Scholars Foundation & Angelfire Scholarships and one semi-finalist for the Returning Student Scholarship.

Basic Requirements:  Available to African-American students who are enrolled full-time in an accredited chiropractic institution and maintain an accumulative GPA of 3.00.

  • VETERANS BENEFITS: Education benefits are available to veterans attending Life West through Chapter 32 (VEAP), Chapter 35 (Dependents), and Chapter 30. For further information please contact either the Veterans Administration (800) 827-1000 or Life West.
  • BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs): Native American students are eligible to apply for BIA grants through their respective agencies or area offices if they have at least one quarter (traceable) Indian blood. Student's eligibility is based on financial need. For further information contact the BIA or tribal council headquarters.
