Asked Questions For more
information call: (510) 780-4567. Q: What can chiropractic care do for me? A: Help you achieve and maintain good health, naturally. Chiropractic is based on two facts: That (1) the nervous system controls all body functions, and that (2) the bony spine, although designed to protect the delicate nervous tissue within, can become displaced and put abnormal pressure on the nerves; this interferes with nerve communications throughout the body. The displaced vertebra is called a SUBLUXATION. Q: How does chiropractic work? A: Gentle, controlled and directed pressure, known as a chiropractic adjustment, returns the spinal vertebrae to their proper position. By maintaining a healthy spine, a chiropractor enhances the body's own inborn healing ability, without drugs or surgery. Q: Why should I choose the Life West Health Center? A: Senior interns, guided by licensed doctors of chiropractic, provide a range of care that is both thorough and cost-effective. Your intern will take an in-depth patient history and perform a complete chiropractic physical examination. You and your intern will then discuss your exam results and develop a program of care individualized to your needs. Your care is monitored and reviewed by faculty doctors. Health Center faculty are always available for consultation. Because the clinic is a teaching facility, we employ the latest chiropractic techniques and pride ourselves on state-of-the-art patient care. Q: How much will it cost? A: We are committed to offering affordable services. Many insurance companies reimburse for chiropractic care. We also accept third-party pay, worker's compensation and personal injury claims. Our initial exam is only $50 and an adjustment/office visit is $20. A complete list of services and prices is made available at the first appointment. Q: How do I make an appointment? A: Call the Health Center or walk in during our normal hours of operation. An intern is always available and will be assigned to your care under the supervision of one of our licensed Faculty Doctors. If you have been referred to the clinic, you may ask for the intern of your choice, who will then contact you to set up a convenient time for your first visit. Q: Can chiropractic help others in my family? A: People of all ages, from children to seniors, benefit from chiropractic care. Everyday childhood activities - contact sports or routine falls - can result in a misalignment of spinal bones, and early care can prevent future problems. As for the senior set, many of our older patients have remarked that adjustments make a tremendous difference in how they move and feel. Q: How can I learn more? A: To inform patients about the role that a healthy spine plays in overall good health, the Life West Health Center offers a free spinal health lecture Tuesdays, 6:00 p.m. “Life Talks” is a 30-minute class designed to explain the basics of chiropractic care and how to live a healthier life. |
