Visitors’
Guide
Facility - The learning resource center houses the library’s collections, reference and audiovisual services, the students’ computer laboratory, and an imaging classroom. This spacious facility has seven study rooms with large windows, as well as cubicles with electrical outlets for individual study. Policy - Visitors pursuing research in health science are welcome to use books, journals, research databases, and audiovisual materials on site in the library. During weekday business hours, the reference librarians will assist unaffiliated researchers by appointment, or on a drop-in basis with preference given to currently enrolled students on busy days. Interlibrary loan service is also available for a fee. Laboratories - Laboratories are available only for enrolled students. This includes the imaging laboratory and the computer laboratory. Young visitors - College policy does not allow children on campus for safety reasons. In emergencies, as defined in the college policy, children are allowed in the library if they are well-behaved and supervised by their parents or a parent-delegate. Photocopier - The self-service copiers accept “copycards” sold at the bookstore, as well as coins and bills. In order to add value to the blank "copycards", use the vend units attached to the copiers. Cost is $.05 per page. Collections of interest to the public -
The growing collections of books, audiovisual materials in many formats, journals, research databases, and instructional software cover a broad scope of health-related topics in support of the curriculum and clinical research. The well-selected materials provide an impressive overview of all aspects of chiropractic and other disciplines that contribute to a healthy life. The librarians have purchased materials that support lifelong education for everyone — for children, lay people, students, and doctors.
Offsite services - Please call the Reference Department at 510-780-4599 extension 2940 for assistance with brief reference questions. For extended assistance at a reasonable fee, please refer to Fees for Service. |
