DR. SHEILA WELLS APPOINTED STATE BOARD OF CHIROPRACTIC EXAMINERS
SACRAMENTO, Calif., November 14, 2003

California Governor Gray Davis recently appointed Sheila Wells, D.C. as a member of the California State Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

Dr. Wells’ private practice (Wellsville) is in Oakland, CA. Previously, she practiced chiropractic for Watson Wellness Center and at Doyle Chiropractic, both offices also located in Oakland.

Prior to her career in chiropractic, Dr. Wells served as an investment banker analyst for Grigsby and Branford and as an assistant controller for Lillick and Charles Law firm, both headquartered in San Francisco. From 1995 to 1999, she owned an insurance company in Oakland.

Dr. Wells earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic (D.C.) in 1995 at Life Chiropractic College West, in Hayward, CA. Along with her D.C., Dr. Wells possesses a Bachelor of Science degree from Golden Gate University, in San Francisco. She is the first Life West alum to be appointed to the California State Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Dr. Wells is an active member of the Institute for Community Leadership, the California Chiropractic Association, and the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church Auxiliary.

The Board of Chiropractic Examiners' primary responsibility is to assure the consumers of California that providers of chiropractic services are adequately trained and meet recognized standards of performance for treatment and practice. The Board regulates and licenses chiropractors in California. The seven-member Board, five licensed chiropractors and two public members, are all appointed by the Governor. Each member is appointed to a four-year term and may be re-appointed to a second term. The Board was created on December 21, 1922, as the result of an initiative measure approved by the voters of California on November 7, 1922. To date, more than 27,000 licenses have been issued.
