Life West Director of Students Elected President
of the National Student Employment Association Life Chiropractic College West Director of Student Services, Job Location & Development Jackie Biron has been elected president of the National Student Employment Association (NSEA). Her one-year term with the national organization began on January 1, 2004. Since 1998, Biron has been a valuable staff member and an enormous favorite of the students at Life West. She has served as executive assistant to the college’s director of students, manager of accounts payable, and director of job location & development through the financial aid office. Biron has been the college’s director of student services, job location & development since October of 2001. Biron has been an active member of the Western Association of Student Employees Association (WASEA), which is the western region of NSEA, since 2000. Her work with WASEA includes serving on the conference committee in 2001 and she was conference chair & vice president in the 2002 and 2003. In July of 2003, she was elected as president of WASEA—a position she will also continue to hold until June 30, 2004. Along with her impressive work and appointments, last year she was also recognized by the WASEA with the Bill Mayes Memorial Award for her outstanding work. Biron became an active member of NSEA in 2002, where she served on the 2003 national conference committee as programs chair and the WASEA regional representative to the national board in 2003. The National Student Employment Association is an organization of several hundred professionals involved with programs for college students who work. NSEA encourages membership from all states. Members include individuals, employers, and institutions associated with the administration and support of student employment in post secondary educational institutions, government, private, community, and /or civic organizations. Like Biron, NSEA members are often involved in a variety of fields: financial aid, job location and development (JLD), work-study, student employment, placement, cooperative education, internships, human resources, and private industry. Biron attended Chabot College in Hayward, CA, and Washington State University. Life Chiropractic College West, established in 1976, is an accredited non-profit institution of higher learning offering the doctor of chiropractic degree through a four-academic-year program of academic study and clinical internship. The college currently enrolls close to 600 men and women from across the U.S. and abroad. More than 3,300 graduates of Life West are now practicing throughout the world. The college’s Public Health Center, operated by approximately 200 senior interns who are guided by licensed doctors of chiropractic, provides health care for more than 1,700 patient visits a week.
