Life West Celebrates
Thanksgiving For Its Canadian Students Though, so far from home and their families, the 20 Canadian Life Chiropractic College West students, and an additional 10 members of the college celebrated their country's Thanksgiving holiday on October 11, with a delicious feast, along with wonderful fellowship. Held at Scott's Seafood, by the water in Jack London Square , Oakland , Calif. , Life West held its 22 nd annual Canadian Thanksgiving. “I grew up in northern New York , just on the other side of the Canadian border,” Life West President Gerard W. Clum , D.C. told the entire group. “It was always a family tradition for my family to spend Canadian Thanksgiving with our friends above the boarder in October, then invite our Canadian friends to our home to celebrate our country's Thanksgiving in November.” This tradition was something Dr. Clum has continued with Life West Canadian students who are deep into their fall quarter of study and is certainly not convenient them to go home to celebrate. Feasting on the traditional Thanksgiving fare (except for fresh sourdough bread—of course, this took place in the San Francisco Bay Area), everyone enjoyed dining and talking about their past Thanksgiving and family memories. Canadian student, Nicole Seepersad, from Toronto , thanked Dr. Clum and the other Life West representatives for such a joyous occasion: “As in the spirit of the holiday, my fellow Canadians and myself are quite thankful for you making us feel at home here tonight. But, we not only appreciate how you make us feel at home here tonight, but more importantly, we feel the same way everyday on the Life West campus. We really appreciate the family-like spirit you provide to us. Though the years, there have been hundreds of Canadian citizens who have earned there D.C. (doctorate of chiropractic) at Life West.
