A Special Day For Local Kids (And Their Families) At Life West
Hayward, Calif., October 5, 2004

On September 18, more than 500 children and their families were on Life Chiropractic College West's campus for a very successful community event— Kids Day America/International ™. Life West's Health Center joined chiropractic offices worldwide, as they participated in the tenth annual Kids Day America/International ™, a Health, Safety, and Environmental Awareness Day.

With the generous assistance from the community, Life West's Kids Day America/International ™ provided a free afternoon of essential information on health, crime prevention, child safety, and environmental awareness through fun learning activities. The a ctivities included free spinal and scoliosis evaluations. The Hayward Police Department assisted in offering free child ID and fingerprinting cards. The Hayward Fire Department gave demonstrations on one of their fire trucks and taught fire safety tips to children. There were also many other caring-community participants helping out, such as the American Red Cross, D.A.R.E., the Hayward Public Library, the Girl Scouts of America, and Family Support Services. Local radio station, KMKY-AM Disney Radio, and its X-treme Team (station personalities) were on hand, broadcasting live while offering kids games and prizes.

"It was a tremendous experience to see so many families from the Hayward area on our campus enjoying in the celebration of the well-being of our children,” reported the event's coordinator Life West Health Center Director of Community Outreach Shawn Dill, D.C. “I was overwhelmed by the support of the many community organizations that were more than willing to lend a helping hand to our effort to educate children and parents about the importance of the safety, health and wellness of our future leaders."

Throughout the day, the Life West Health Center served up free food for all attendees, as well as provided children entertainment with roaming clowns and children face painting.

  

To show appreciation to Life West and its very successful event, Hayward Mayor Roberta Cooper came by to sign and present a proclamation making September 18, 2004 , officially Kids Day America/International ™ in the city of Hayward .

  

This was the 10th anniversary of Kids Day America/International ™, which this year, was celebrated at 1,700 locations around the world.

 

Life Chiropractic College West, established in 1976, is an accredited non-profit institution of higher learning offering the doctor of chiropractic degree through a four-academic-year program of academic study and clinical internship. The college currently enrolls close to 600 men and women from across the U.S. and abroad. More than 3,300 graduates of Life West are now practicing throughout the world. The college’s Public Health Center, operated by approximately 200 senior interns who are guided by licensed doctors of chiropractic, provides health care for more than 1,700 patient visits a week.
