With Annual Holiday Toy Drive
Hayward, Calif., December 20, 2004
The students, staff, and faculty
of Life Chiropractic College West really showed a collective holiday spirit
commitment to their community in exceeding all expectations with their
annual Holiday Toy Drive. Donna Fitzwater of Volunteer Hayward—a volunteer
program of the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (H.A.R.D)—said,
“We've been always able to count on Life West to come through—but this
is incredible! There will be a lot of happy children on Christmas morning.”
With an original commitment of
raising 100 toys and $200 in gift certificates to make it a better holiday
season for children of low-income families in the Hayward Area, the Life
West Holiday Toy Drive began in November. On the final day of the drive,
December 16, Life West raised the $200 in gift certificates, and an impressive
150 toys. The donations were taken to taken to the Hayward Senior Center
that day, and then the toys and gift certificates were distributed to
local families in need on Saturday, December 18 th .
“This is the 4th year that I've
worked on this project,” said Life West Director of Student Services Jackie
Biron. “I really appreciate all of the faculty, staff and students who
have given so generously and have exemplified the mission statement of
the college as they have given to this service project.” Life West's mission
statement is “Lasting Purpose: To love, to do, to give, and to serve,
out of abundance.”
