Life West Exceeds Expectations With Annual Holiday Toy Drive
Hayward, Calif., December 20, 2004

The students, staff, and faculty of Life Chiropractic College West really showed a collective holiday spirit commitment to their community in exceeding all expectations with their annual Holiday Toy Drive. Donna Fitzwater of Volunteer Hayward—a volunteer program of the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (H.A.R.D)—said, “We've been always able to count on Life West to come through—but this is incredible! There will be a lot of happy children on Christmas morning.”

With an original commitment of raising 100 toys and $200 in gift certificates to make it a better holiday season for children of low-income families in the Hayward Area, the Life West Holiday Toy Drive began in November. On the final day of the drive, December 16, Life West raised the $200 in gift certificates, and an impressive 150 toys. The donations were taken to taken to the Hayward Senior Center that day, and then the toys and gift certificates were distributed to local families in need on Saturday, December 18 th .

“This is the 4th year that I've worked on this project,” said Life West Director of Student Services Jackie Biron. “I really appreciate all of the faculty, staff and students who have given so generously and have exemplified the mission statement of the college as they have given to this service project.” Life West's mission statement is “Lasting Purpose: To love, to do, to give, and to serve, out of abundance.”

 

Life Chiropractic College West, established in 1976, is an accredited non-profit institution of higher learning offering the doctor of chiropractic degree through a four-academic-year program of academic study and clinical internship. The college currently enrolls close to 600 men and women from across the U.S. and abroad. More than 3,300 graduates of Life West are now practicing throughout the world. The college’s Public Health Center, operated by approximately 200 senior interns who are guided by licensed doctors of chiropractic, provides health care for more than 1,700 patient visits a week.
