ROBERT STOJANOVICH, D.C., NAMED 2006 ALUMNUS OF THE YEAR

HAYWARD, Calif., November 6, 2006—In recognition of his many contributions to the chiropractic profession and to his community, Robert Stojanovich, D.C., of Walnut Creek, Calif., has been named the 2006 Alumnus of the Year by the Life Chiropractic College West Alumni Association.  The prestigious award was presented during the college's annual homecoming dinner, held on October 21, 2006.

Since graduating from Life West in 1983, Dr. Stojanovich has not only been a successful practitioner but has been a strong voice for chiropractic and a resource for chiropractors of Contra Costa County.  A “chiropractor’s chiropractor,” he has served on the board of the Contra Costa District Chapter of the California Chiropractic Association for 19 years.  He has an e-mail list of 200 chiropractors in his area and keeps them up to date on legislative news and information of current interest to the profession.

In presenting the award to Dr. Stojanovich, Karen Franklin, D.C., an Alumni Association board member and chairperson of the selection committee, said that the outreach exemplified by Dr. Stojanovich “makes us a community and not just a scattered bunch of individual practitioners.”  When CPR certification became a license requirement in California, Dr. Stojanovich set up a CPR renewal program for Contra Costa chiropractors, arranging for a firefighter to teach the program.

Dr. Stojanovich has remained a long-time friend and supporter of Life West, attending college events and eventually sending his son Dr. Nick Stojanovich to follow in his footsteps as a Life West alumnus.  Dr. Franklin noted that “Dr. Bob” has always answered calls from chiropractors who needed help or chiropractic students who needed counsel.

Life West faculty radiologist Dr. J. C. Carter, who also practices in Contra Costa County, said, “If someone asks me what I consider the perfect chiropractor to be, I describe Bob. He exemplifies the concept of giving for the sake of giving.”

Dr. Stojanovich is the 15th recipient of the Life West Alumnus(a) of the Year Award.  The recipient of this award is selected by the Life West Alumni Association Awards Committee, which is made up of his/her peers.
