LIFE CHIROPRACTIC COLLEGE WEST NAMES NEW DEAN

Hayward, Calif., November 7, 2006—Life Chiropractic College West has named Dr. Joseph Ferguson III as its new Dean of the College.  Dr. Ferguson has been a faculty member and department chairperson at Life West since 2003.

Life West President Dr. Gerard Clum announced Dr. Ferguson’s appointment to the campus community on November 2.  Ferguson had been acting dean since July.             Dr. Ferguson has taught courses in chiropractic philosophy and clinical sciences, served a term as president of the faculty senate, and was chairperson of the department of associated clinical sciences.

A 1990 graduate of Life West, Dr. Ferguson practiced for ten years in the San Francisco Bay Area, specializing in sports chiropractic and rehabilitation. He then taught for three years at La Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia, before returning and taking a teaching position at Life West.

The previous dean, Adrienne Miller, left to take a position with California Polytechnic Institute in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

As Dean of the College, Dr. Ferguson becomes Life West’s chief academic officer, overseeing all aspects of the degree program from faculty oversight to curriculum development.

Life Chiropractic College West is an accredited non-profit institution of higher learning offering the Doctor of Chiropractic degree through a four-year program of study including an extensive clinical internship.  Currently 500 students from across the U.S. and abroad are enrolled, and over 3,700 graduates are providing chiropractic care worldwide.
