Research Department Mission Statement
(click here to participate in a normative data study conducted by Life West and TrueMRI)
The Mission of the Research Department at Life Chiropractic
College West is to contribute to the knowledge base of the chiropractic profession
through the initiation, completion and publication of original scientific research.
In addition, the department serves as a technological resource for the college
campus (i.e. faculty, students, administrators and staff) and the chiropractic
profession in general, to assist and facilitate scholarly activity.
Goals and Objectives
The goals of the department are to complete studies that:
- Refine the clinical decision making processes/examination
procedures used by chiropractors in the detection of subluxation (e.g.,
reliability, validity, and clinical utility studies);
- Compare the relative efficacies, effectiveness, and safety of different
chiropractic care techniques in various patient populations (e.g., randomized
controlled clinical trials, n of 1 time series, and retrospective studies);
- Compare the relative efficacies, effectiveness and safety of chiropractic
care vs. medical treatments and natural history in various patient populations
(e.g., randomized controlled clinical trials, n of 1 time series, and retrospective
studies);
- Elucidate the underlying neuromechanical mechanisms associated with optimal
spinal health and subluxation (e.g. biomechanics research);
- Elucidate, compare, or contrast chiropractic care paradigms of health,
wellness, and disease (e.g. epidemiological surveys/trials and descriptive
research); and
- Describe chiropractic analytical and care procedures in diverse patient
populations (e.g., case report, case series).
