Satisfactory Academic Progress Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress in order to remain at the College. Satisfactory academic progress is also necessary in order to receive financial aid as outlined in the financial information section of the college catalog. Academic Notice Students who achieve either a grade of D or F in a course twice will be put on academic notice. Failure to achieve a minimum grade of C for a third time may result in academic dismissal. Failed classes must be retaken during the following quarter, or the next quarter the student is in attendance at the College. Academic Probation When a current student's grade point average falls below a 2.0, the student is placed on academic probation. If a student on academic probation completes each of the next two quarters with a minimum 2.0 grade point average, the student will be removed from this status. If the student falls below a 2.0 grade point average in either of the next two quarters, the student continues on academic probation. Failure to achieve a minimum 2.0 grade point average for a third time while on academic probation may result in academic dismissal. Administrative Academic Probation A student may be placed on administrative academic probation for one or more quarters for any of the following reasons:
Academic Contracts Academic contracts are documents issued by the dean of the College at the recommendation of the academic standards committee, and set forth specific stipulations for continued enrollment at Life Chiropractic College West. New students may also be placed on an academic contract by the dean of the College at the recommendation of the admissions committee. Failure to meet the requirements of an academic contract may result in academic dismissal. A student may be released from an academic contract after three consecutive quarters of full-time enrollment with a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Academic Dismissal Academic dismissal results when a student fails a course three times, violates terms of an academic contract, or continues on academic probation for three quarters. A student may be dismissed sooner if there is little potential for academic success based on the assessment of the academic standards committee and the dean. Following dismissal, students may be considered for re-admission after a significant amount of time being separated from the College. Factors influencing possible re-admission are remedial course work at an accredited college, academic or personal counseling, and/or demonstration of having overcome the difficulties that led to dismissal. Students contemplating applying for re-admission should review re-admission procedures in the admissions section of the college catalog. |
